This programme has been devised in consultation with UK universities to provide the best possible preparation for a degree programme. Suitable for: International students who wish to study for a first degree either at Albion College (see section on degree programmes) or progress to other universities in the UK.

About this course
Students must be seventeen or over, and have five GCSEs or a High School diploma. They must also have a level of English language equivalent to IELTS 4.5. For those with a lower level, the College provides an intensive English language course prior to the Foundation programme.

It is accepted by the vast majority of British universities including Royal Holloway (University of London), Queen Mary (University of London), Westminster, Essex, Birmingham, Manchester and Sheffield.
Our Foundation Programme is a one year full time course, and has been devised in consultation with UK universities to provide the best possible preparation for a degree programme.
It is ideal for students who wish to study for degrees in the following subjects:

In the first term students are given tuition in Mathematics and IT, as well as courses to improve Communication Skills and to prepare for the British Council IELTS examination – an essential qualification for all degree programmes. Also, students are taught various study skills which they will require at university. These include essay planning, referencing and research skills.
In the second and third terms, students continue to improve their language skills and prepare for their IELTS exam. They also take three specialised modules appropriate to their chosen degree course. The subjects offered are as follows:

In addition, students take a further module in Business, Technical or Legal English, which helps to acquaint them with specific vocabulary and terminology related to their degree subject.
INTAKE DATES
Students can take the programme either from September to June or January to August.
ASSESSMENT
Modules are assessed by a combination of coursework and written examinations. These exams are internally set and examined.
