To provide the knowledge, understanding and practical skills to Gas qualified Operatives involved in the construction of polyethylene (PE) distribution mains for NGT Transco. This programme will ensure that all operatives can competently undertake fusion welding of PE pipes (including ProFuse pipes) in the size range of 250mm to 355mm. Suitable for: Operatives

On completion of the course, delegates should be able to:
To have an understanding of:
- The impact of damage and poor jointing quality on Gas Distribution Network Safety
- The correct practices to be used for receiving deliveries of PE pipe packs
- The correct practices to be used for the lifting and handling of PE pipe sticks
- ProFuse pipe technology and how it differs from traditional materials
- The procedures and practices which are unique to the ProFuse system
- The correct practices to be used for making Electrofusion coupler welded joints
- The correct practices to be used for making Electrofusion branch connections
- The correct practices to be used for Butt Fusion welding
- The correct practices for site based quality assessments of joints
They will also be able to demonstrate practical competence in:
- The removal of the peelable skin from ProFuse pipes
