What are the benefits of this course? You will be qualified to meet the criteria set by the SIA for staff working in the Security Industry (ie; Security Guards and Door Supervisors), Healthcare Security, Education, Retail, Mental Health, Care Homes, Enforcement and Bailiffs). The techniques taught on this course have been medically risk assessed to the standards set by the Institute of Conflict Management.

About this course
The SIA has announced that from February 2013 existing door supervisors who had achieved the pre-QCF Door Supervision qualification (for example the Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Award or National Certificate for Door Supervision) before the summer of 2012 would be required to undertake additional training in order to renew their SIA licence.

I perform the duties of a consultant and expert witness at Court, Coroner’s Inquests and Organisation Tribunals. This has covered a wide range of topics and issues ranging from risk management review of policies and working practices, delivery of training, use of reasonable force, post incident reporting and post incident management support. I am a Board Member of the Institute of Conflict Management, which is formally recognised by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and seeks to raise and promote national minimum standards to address issues of Work Related Violence.
Course programme
The new qualification comprises the following two mandatory units:
· Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors
· Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry
Course syllabus:
· Understand counter-terrorism issues relevant to door supervisors
· Know the role of the door supervisor when first-aid situations occur
· Know legislation and requirements regarding children and young people
· Understand physical interventions and the legal and professional implications of their use
· Understand how to reduce the risk of harm when physical intervention skills are used
· Be able to use non-pain related physical skills protect yourself and others from assault
· Be able to use non-pain related techniques including non-restrictive and restrictive skills
