Learning Objectives
  • To review the basics of the immune system, and to recognise the concept of psoriasis as an immune-mediated disease.
  • To recognise the place for biological treatments for psoriasis in the context of other second and third line treatments for this disorder.
  • To understand the various mechanism of action of the biologic therapies and explain them to patients.
  • To understand the benefits and side effects of biological therapies, and discuss these with prospective patients.
  • To have the skills and knowledge to be able to complete documentation required for registration of psoriasis patients receiving biological therapies.

At the end of the six week course students will be required to complete a series of reflection points which will consolidate learning. Upon successful completion of the course a certificate of attendance will be issued.
