A level 2 award in Using IT (although candidates with relevant experience will also be accepted). All candidates are required to sit a short pre entry test to confirm that this is the right course in terms of their personal development and progression.

Course Content

Candidates follow a programme made up of the following Level 3 Units:

Unit 301

  • Make selective use of IT

Unit 302

  • Operate a computer

Unit 304

  • IT Maintenance for users

Unit 308

  • Word processing software

Unit 310

  • Database software

Unit 313

  • Presentation software

Duration

21 Weeks – 4 half-day sessions per week

Assessment

  • Candidates build a portfolio of evidence, based on the work tasks that they undertake, demonstrating their competence in relation to the standards of the award.

Next Step

  • Progression to NVQ Level 4 and to other programmes such as HNC and HND.
