About this course
A minimum of 2 GCSEs at Grade D or above and or completion of an entrance test. Candidates will be interviewed to assess their suitability for the course and we will be looking for an appropriate standard of English and maths. We are interested in your enthusiasm and commitment to succeed.

This course is for school leavers or adults interested in motor vehicle servicing.
Successful students tend to have:
- An excellent working knowledge of motor vehicles and possible faults.
- Good communication skills.
- To keep up to date with new technology.

- To be interested in cars, heavy vehicles or motorcycles, and electronic equipment.
Course Content
This course consists of seven core units:
- Working safely and Effective during light vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Foundation Skills for light vehicle maintenance and repair.
- Light Vehicle Construction and Routine Maintenance.
- Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension System.
- Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Engines.
- Operating Principles and Maintenance of Light Vehicle Transmission Systems.
- Operating Principles and Maintenance of Light Vehicle Electrical and Electronic Systems.
Entry RequirementsLearning & Assessment Methods
Students will be assessed by doing practical jobs on cars and completing a logbook of work plus successful completion of e-examinations.
