Course programme

What will I learn?

All aspects of veterinary nursing training including animal health, communication skills, medical and surgical nursing skills, health & safety subects, laboratory, radiography, anaesthesia and emergency nursing skills Experience and competency in a wide range of practical skills is recorded in an electronic portfolio throughout your training

What may it lead to?

By completing the course you will have the full VN qualification and be able to apply to become a registered veterinary nurse with the RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons)

Entry Requirements

One of the following: 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including Maths, English and Science) / a science-based Level 2 Diploma at triple distinction grade & 2 GCSEs at C or Level 2 Maths and English / a science-based Level 3 Diploma at merit grade & 2 GCSEs at grade C or Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English Places are subject to interview and students must be employed in an approved veterinary training practice

Additional Information & Other Costs

To be eligible for the Apprenticeship scheme funding you cannot have already achieved a Degree Apprentice students attend College one day a week for three years, and need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours a week (which can include the College day) Students must be able to achieve at least 15 hours' worth of placement at a Canterbury College-approved practice each week Course fees vary according to age - If you are 19 or over you or your employer will pay a contribution towards your training costs - please contact the College's Work Based Learning team for more information Apprentices are supported by a Learning Advisor from the Work Based Learning department
