This course provides a good introduction to hairdressing and enables you to work on basic fundamental skills to include shampooing, blow drying, setting and creative hair up. The first year is split into 2 stages, in the first stage you will work on the 13 units to complete the VRQ. In the second stage (once VRQ is complete) you will be working on level 2 enrichment which will include cutting and colouring. This enrichment will hopefully give you the skills and experience to enable you to progress onto the NVQ level 2 programme.

Overview

You will study and be assessed on 13 units including:

  • Health & safety
  • Shampoo & condition
  • Styling womens hair
  • Styling mens hair
  • Colour hair with temporary colour
  • Art of dressing hair
  • Plaiting & twisting
  • Create a hair and beauty image
  • Reception

All units will include underpinning theory knowledge to enable each learner to complete the necessary written tests, assignments and practical assessments.  Each learner will also produce a portfolio of evidence.


Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required. Huddersfield applicants should attend a presentation and interview evening to understand the nature of the course and also have the opportunity to ask questions.

Presentation and interview evenings will be held at Huddersfield on:

  • Wednesday 8th June 2016 (17:30 prompt start)
  • Wednesday 6th July 2016 (17:30 prompt start)
