The catering and hospitality industry Health & Safety Food Safety Healthy eating Special Diets Prepare and cook using a variety of methodsProgress to Level 2 Catering Employment in catering, hospitality or leisure and tourism industriesYou will develop a broad understanding of the hospitality and catering industry, the importance of Food safety and develop the basic knowledge and understanding of the principles of health and safety in the workplace. You will gain an introduction to healthier foods, kitchen equipment, personal workplace skills and professional cookery. You will learn how to prepare and cook food by boiling, poaching, steaming, stewing, braising, grilling and many other methods. All of the work takes place in our training kitchen where you will have the opportunity to prepare meals for sale in the Canary View Restaurant. Included in this qualification are on-line tests, coursework and practical assessment. It is designed to equip students with the skills they need for the working world. We also support your study through Functional Skills in Maths, English & ICT.
