VTCT VRQ in Hairdressing Level 1

This level 1 qualification has many level 2 enrichments incorporated into it to support progression to level 2 Hairdressing.

You modules you will cover:

• Follow Health and Safety in the salon,
• Introduction to the hair and beauty sector,
• Working with others in the hair and beauty sector,
• Presenting a professional image in a salon,
• Shampooing and conditioning,
• Colour using temporary colour,
• Styling women's hair
• The art of dressing hair,
• Create a hair and beauty image,
• Salon reception duties,
• Create and maintain retail displays in the salon,
• Plaiting and twisting hair,
• Styling men's hair

You will also complete work experience in salons for one week and as part of your enrichment you will work from our Huddersfield town centre salon, Xpert Hair Training Group.

Entry Requirements

• No formal GCSE entry requirements,
• an initial assessment indicating you are working at entry level 3 and you are able to achieve level 1 English within one year, and working at entry level 2 in maths and able to achieve entry level 3 in one year,
• a high standard of personal presentation, enthusiasm and commitment and an interest in working with people. This will be assessed at interview.
