A review of the requirements of the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 leads to an understanding of how to: µInterpret the Water UK Confined Spaces classification scheme. µRisk assess residual hazards. µRecognise changing environments. µUse and interpret gas monitors to verify safe atmospheres. µUnderstand the nature and occurrence of problem atmospheres. µUse ancillary safety items harness, ropes, winches and life lines. µUse escape breathing apparatus safely. µWork in a safe system of work. µReact positively in an emergency situation. Suitable for: Persons nominated to work in or at Confined Spaces where work has been assessed and classified as Risk Level NC2, NC3 or NC4 under the Water UK scheme and who require pre-assessment training to prepare then for assessment in C&G Unit 822

Delegates should provide a passport photograph on the day of training for production of ID Cards. For courses held at our centre in Wellingborough we can provide this service on your behalf using our on-site digital camera.

Introduction
Water UK Confined Spaces City & Guilds 822 Safe Entry into the Water UK Classification NC2, NC3 and NC4 Category Confined Spaces using compressed air escape breathing apparatus as a part of the planned means of self rescue. This is a City & Guilds of London Institute certificated competency based training and assessment course (City & Guilds Utilities Operations Scheme 5831 – Unit 822). Content A review of the requirements of the Confined Spaces Regulations 1997 leads to an understanding of how to :
- Interpret the Water UK Confined Spaces classification scheme
- Risk assess residual hazards
- Recognise changing environments
- Use and interpret gas monitors to verify safe atmospheres
- Understand the nature and occurrence of problem atmospheres
- Use ancillary safety items – harness, ropes, winches and life lines
- Use escape breathing apparatus safely
- Work in a safe system of work
- React positively in an emergency situation Training Methods A high proportion of hands-on demonstrations and practical exercises, supplemented with classroom based tutorials and pre and post course assessments.
