Course description B09116CD: The course will introduce students to the tools used in watercolours and how to laydown different washes and colour mixes.The tutor will introduce students to the very basics of watercolour, setting a foundation of knowledge that can be taken home and build upon.This course should answer questions such as:What brushes should I use?What paper is best for watercolours?What is a flat wash or graded wash?What does it mean by wet on wet?How are watercolours different from other paints?

3. Entry requirements No formal entry requirements 4. Equipment required Pencil - HB Good quality watercolour paper - 140lbs/300gms or The Works sell a practise pad that is 230gsm Watercolour paints- a tube of Red, Yellow and Blue (which we can mix into other colours) 2-3 brushes- Natural bristle is best, but you can choose synthetic. #8 to 10 round, #2 to 4 round and #8 to 10 flat. Please do not buy cheap cream coloured hogs hair bristle brushes as these are not suitable for watercolours. (Amazon sell a 'Reeves Canister' set for £5.50 or a 'Curtisward' 6 piece set for £13.50 or a 'Craftamo' 15 brush set for £20.) (Please ask to be put in touch with the tutor is you need help) A water pot. A palette or plate for mixing your paint. Kitchen roll. You can also bring the items below to help you create effects; Small jar of salt (different types give different effects). Candle or white wax crayon.If you have any other equipment you would like to bring the tutor can explain what they are or how to use them to best effect.Please bring lunch and refreshments. 5.
