Year 1- Online content production
An introduction to producing content for the Web, including text, audio, video, and images. You will learn production techniques and popular platforms for hosting content online. - Web design principles
You'll explore the main concepts behind current Web design practice, and gain knowledge of website production techniques. - Internet history
The origins and development of the Internet are analysed, from which you'll be encouraged to conceptualise a new product or service taking advantage of emerging Web technology. - Scripting and coding
Building on Web design principles, you'll explore fundamental methods of website creation using both client-side and server-side scripting. - Managing social media
In this module you'll learn how to build and manage professional social media and online communities. - Convergent media practice
This module encourages you to develop and express a critical understanding of the ways in which the convergence of art, media, and communications is currently being evaluated by leading researchers within academia. Examples of how artists and practitioners are also responding to the converging cultural landscape will provide evidence of the blending and evolution of previously separated disciplines.
- User experience design
You'll learn to research, design and test the online user experience, with the goal of improving interaction. - Advanced coding
Building on the basic principles of website production learned in Year 1, this module provides a sophisticated understanding of dynamic code. - App creation
You'll learn to develop apps for smartphones and tablets, including cross-platform considerations and optimising for the mobile Internet. - Online games

Your industry placement is an opportunity to apply and develop your skills, knowledge and networking abilities in an industry setting. - E-commerce and digital marketing
Guest lectures, masterclasses and developing a professional profile, in preparation for work in the industry.
- Internet of things
Internet connectivity is increasingly becoming embedded in ubiquitous everyday devices; this module provides you with the opportunity to conceive and prototype new embedded network services. - Big data futures
This module looks at how huge online databases are providing opportunities for new services, and even systems that point towards a future of artificial intelligence. - Research project
This project allows you to research and contextualise a specific area of interest within your own Web production and social media practice, and to deliver an in-depth piece of practical or theoretical research. - Independent project
This module provides a critical framework through which to develop, realise and exhibit a coherent and critically informed advanced final year project. Building upon individual research and experimentation and supported by your teaching and technical staff, your work will be showcased to the industry in a high profile End of Year Show.
You'll be assessed by experienced tutors, lecturers, and Industry professionals, who combine their teaching with Web industry practice. Your practical work will be supported by a team of Technical Instructors. Assessment is by a combination of practical assignments and written coursework.
