This Web Technologies Course provides an in-depth introduction to the fundamentals of web design suitable for anyone interested in working professionally in this field. The course takes a detailed look at the core technologies of HTML, CSS, and the use of Adobe Dreamweaver, the market-leading web design program. The course also looks at the use of JavaScript and latest technologies such as HTML5 and CSS3. (NB. If you are interested in a more detailed introduction to Javascript, the college offers a stand-alone course in this subject).The preparation of effective web content, text, images, sound and animation are also covered together with the use of the Adobe programs Photoshop, Flash and Edge. The course also explores the other skills required by a practitioner in this field. These include planning and costing skills, domain naming and web hosting, content management, Search Engine Optimization and social media marketing. Optional topics allow the student to explore such areas as database-driven web sites (using PHP/MySQL) or the development of websites with the use of content-management systems like Wordpress. (NB.
