Course Details

In a busy world every minute counts and there is often very little time for an English language course. The Weekender is an excellent and enjoyable way to maximise time spent learning English.

The Weekender is an English language immersion experience. It is more than a language course. English is spoken all the time and there is a lot of contact with teachers who take part in conversation and correct any mistakes made. There are also important social and tourism elements giving participants a well-balanced, enjoyable and useful weekend. Special features of our Weekender programme include:

  • English language classes at two levels
  • Focus on improving communication
  • Very small classes
  • Conversation practice with a teacher in a relaxed social environment
  • Two afternoon excursions with native English speakers

This course can be booked for a mid-course weekend, as an add-on at the beginning/end of a course, or as a separate stand-alone course.

Course Content

  • Welcome wine and cheese reception at the Language Training Centre followed by a themed walking tour of Chester with your teacher(s), ending with a visit to a typical Victorian city centre pub.
  • Topic-based classroom activity (break and coffee 10:30 - 11:00)
  • Lunch with your teacher(s)
  • Afternoon excursion with your teacher(s) e.g. North Wales or Liverpool
  • Evening social activity
  • Topic-based classroom activity (break and coffee 10:30 - 11:00)
  • Typical Sunday lunch!
  • Afternoon excursion with your teacher e.g. the attractions of rural Cheshire

Classroom sessions will explore business, current affairs and inter-cultural topics as well as preparing for and following up excursions planned for the afternoon. Excursions and social activities help participants to activate their English as part of the total immersion weekend.
