Course programme

What are the entry requirements?You need to be aged between 16 and 24 and currently employed in the welding and fabrication industry. There are no specific qualifications needed but numeracy and literacy skills would be an advantage (help with these skills can be offered to support achieving the required English, Maths and ICT level).
What’s involved?The Apprenticeship will cover health and safety, working effectively and efficiently, and using and communicating technical information. There are also a range of optional units to be undertaken based upon the type of work that you are employed in, such as (but not limited to):
- Manual welding
- Brazing and/or soldering
- Sheet or plate metal work
- Pipework fabrication
This Apprenticeship usually takes 18-24 months to complete. You will be working at your place of employment and you will be required to attend College (in Evesham) for day or block release.
How will I be assessed?For your NVQ you will be assessed on your practical competence through regular visits and assessments by an appointed Instructor/Assessor For the technical certificate you will be assessed by a combination of online and internal theory and practical tests.
Where can I move on to after this course?On successful completion of the programme you will achieve a Level 2 NVQ and a Level 2 Diploma after which you could go on to study a two year Level 3 Advanced Welding and Fabrication Apprenticeship
What are the costs involved?Learners over the age of 19 may be required to pay a fee; this is dependant upon prior qualifications obtained.
