If you are aged over 19 years and would like to complete a short basic course in women's hairdressing, this is the programme for you. This course gives a valuable insight into the full Vocationally Related Qualification (VRQ) Diploma in hairdressing by selecting some of the units from the full qualification. The course is designed to allow school aged child friendly hours.

About this course




Depending on the specific units and their credit value, you could progress onto our full level 2 Diploma. You could also select individual hairdressing units (credits) to study at a time that suits you.

Employment opportunities could include work at a junior level in a salon based environment.

Course programme

You will work with experienced lecturers in a realistic work environment as you develop practical skills and relevant knowledge across the following topics:

  • Working in the Hair Industry
  • Follow Health and Safety in the Salon
  • Shampoo and Condition the Hair and Scalp
  • Cut Women’s Hair
  • The Art of Dressing Hair

If you have not yet achieved a grade C (or above) in GCSE English and maths, you will be required to attend GCSE resit sessions (if you achieved grade D) or functional skills sessions (if you achieved grade E or below).

Course Assessment Method

You will be assessed via written assignments and observations of your practical skills.
