What will I study? Practical Skills - Woodworking skills, Setting Out, Storing Resources .... etc Job Knowledge and Trade Techniques How to Read, Interpret and Work from Construction drawings Calculating Trade Materials and Costings Health and Safety - Mandatory for NVQ or ICA / Diploma level 2 [tba] Additionally (if required by the programme) Key Skills in Communication and Application of Number
What else will I do? Basic First Aid Health & Safety Employment Rights and Responsibilities
How will I be assessed? Practical & Theory assessment along with Site-Generated-Evidence [NVQ only]. Written assignments are completed for each of the 6 units. Practical work is assessed via the completion of set tasks within the workshop which are designed to meet specific criteria and industrial tolerances. Site generated evidence will be produced following guidance and directives from your tutors and assessors.
What will I achieve? Depending on your entry level of skill and work experience your tutor will advise you on the most suitable programme. Course of study includes: Intermediate Construction Award / Diploma level 2 [tba] NVQ L2 Wood Occupations
What can I do afterwards? Succesful candidates may progress onto NVQ 3
Materials required: Candidates are encouraged to purchase their own set of tools, but basic tools are available for training and assessment purposes. Steel toe-capped boots are required during all practical work shop sessions
Additional information about this course: Candidates should be aware that all construction trades require physical effort and work in all weathers.
