About this course
In order to work towards this qualification, you will need to be a trainee with an NVQ 2 in Carpentry and Joinery, or an experienced worker employed as a Site Carpenter.

Wood Occupations NVQ Level 3
Course Content:
This course covers installation of first and second fix components, erecting structural carcassing components, knowledge of materials, planning and controlling of working practices and procedures.
Equipment Requirements:
You will need to provide your own safety footwear.
Progression:
Trades people with a Level 3 NVQ can also progress to site management if they wish.
Additional Information:
OSAT (On-site Assessment and Training) is another route to gaining an NVQ that is available to workers who are already experienced but do not have formal qualifications. Regular college attendance is not required and you can start at any time after your interview. You will build up a portfolio of evidence with your Tutor who will also visit your workplace to assess your work. If you are on a qualifying means tested benefit the tuition fees for some courses may be reduced. However, you will still need to pay Exam and College costs. You must claim tuition fee remission by providing evidence before enrolment.
