Description

  • Type

    Bachelor's degree

  • Location

    Islington

With role extension and health care needs developing rapidly, health care professionals need to provide evidence of competency in specific areas of practice. This module enables you to identify well-defined facets of clinical practice to pursue, which are outside the normal modular framework, to meet local service needs and the NHS agenda. You will negotiate your learning needs to meet your continuing professional development requirements and respond to service developments. The module will provide a flexible approach to learning, with the majority of the learning taking place within the workplace. You will gain M-level credits for advancing your clinical and academic skills within a focussed area of clinical practice. Typical areas of study could embrace specialist areas within your broader scope of practice (for example small parts ultrasound for a general sonographer). The module will enable you to undertake scholarly activity and skills development in a well-defined, focussed area of clinical practice within your chosen field. You will develop the relevant competencies and integrate them into your current clinical practice, by diversifying and expanding your range of clinical skills. The suitability of the area of study, learning outcomes and assessments will be negotiated with the programme director or senior member of the programme team, to ensure suitability within the programme. A module guide will be provided, with clearly identified learning outcomes and agreed assessments.
