As this is a work-based course you must have secured either voluntary or employment within a school environment working with children aged 5 to 19 for minimum of 10 hours per week for the duration of the course.
You need to be involved in specialist support such as supporting the curriculum, English as an additional language, pastoral support, supporting additional educational needs or involved in the wider work of the school.
Please note that you must have been volunteering or working in the placement in which you are to be assessed for at least 3 months prior to the course commencing.
This course is based on a portfolio of evidence in which you will demonstrate your competence through work products and observations in the work place.
Once we receive your application you will be invited in to carry out an initial assessment at the college. Only upon completion of this initial assessment will you be invited in for interview.

It covers all aspects of specialist support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support leaning alongside the teacher, bilingual and special needs support and personal development and reflective practice.
