A team is a group of people who are working towards a common goal or aim.
ABOUT THE COURSE
It is crucial for all children regardless of age, to be given the opportunity to experience stability, security and a sense of belonging so that they can develop appropriately, nourish and maintain their levels of self esteem and overall well being. This is a major task for expanding all carers and becomes increasingly more difficult to achieve as the age of the child and the time spent out of the birth home extends. Workers in Residential Units are under enormous pressure and need recognition, training and practical advice to complete this task properly.
Offering appropriate care in a Residential Unit is especially difficult due to many factors some of which may include, the number of carers involved and circumstances leading to residential care, different management styles, the role government policies and procedures and often the morale and ethos within the unit. These things can all impact greatly on the service given to the young person.
Following requests from workers in this field we have devised this two day course which enables professional workers and managers to raise their awareness of these issues and how they impact on the child or young person and to explore together practical ways which will enhance the development of the child alongside building the confidence and expertise of workers. This course is based on the research and recommendations from work completed by Government Support Force for Children in Residential Care. It is guaranteed to give best value and has been piloted within a residential unit. This course can stand alone, but is maximised when delivered as part of a whole package.
