Working with Cared for Children This introductory course focuses on the theory and skills needed to support the care worker working with children who are taken into care. The training proposes a child centred approach but also reflects on the many other styles of therapeutic care which exist. The training focuses on 3 areas: 1) The theory of therapeutic child care and a visit to the main influences of our thinking today eg. Bowlby & Attachment theory; Winnicot and Containment. 2) Focuses on practical skills to support the care work; Including reflective listening, understanding psychosocial history and its influence upon our behaviour. 3) Looks at the structures within our society which affect our work and the lives of children in care; included: legal and social frameworks such as the Children Act and Child Protection practices. It will also reflect on organisational frameworks and explore best practice
