SECTION 1Health and Safety

By the end of this unit learners will understand and recognise the importance of all the Legislations listed below and why they must abide by them. It will also make them aware of how to work safely within their chosen industry.
SECTION 2Client Care

The Importance of Client Consultation – Client consultations are important, but did you know that it is actually a legal requirement to perform a consultation before every treatment.
SECTION 3Professional Image

The aim of this unit is to enable learners to present and maintain a professional image and to communicate and behave professionally in a salon environment.
It is vital that they follow the correct code of conduct, professional ethics and are able to work with others.
SECTION 4Anatomy and Physiology

Knowledge of anatomy and physiology is essential when studying any element of Beauty therapy.
It is vital that as a therapist you have a clear understanding of how the human body works and the implications of the treatments that you are providing.
SECTION 5Products / Tools / Equipment

This unit will provide the learner with a clear description of what tools/products/equipment you will need in order to carry out a Manicure and Pedicure.
SECTION 6Manicure and Pedicure Treatment

Through this unit, you will learn how to perform a full Manicure and Pedicure treatment. You will learn about a variety of products used during the treatment, as well as how to use tools to do cuticle work, to improve the appearance of the nails.
You will learn how to identify the condition of your client’s skin and nails, which will help you to decide which products and tools to use. You will learn how to massage your client’s hands lower arm and feet using effleurage and petrissage techniques. You will also learn how to apply nail polish using precision techniques to achieve a professional finish.
SECTION 7Specialised Treatments

During a manicure or pedicure, clients can be given the option to upgrade their treatment to a Luxury manicure/pedicure which will add an extra treatment.
