Working with Young People Foundation Degree

This Foundation Degree has been designed to build skills, knowledge and understanding in working with young people.
Students participate in a range of approaches encompassing experiential, professional and theoretical learning. Students are expected to understand the values inherent in learning about power, equality and context when considering work with young people.

The course is designed for people currently in paid employment in a position that involves substantial work with young people. You will be willing to explore and improve your practice, relating this to underlying youth principles and theory. You will be hoping to progress and possibly gain a professional qualification. You will be committed to social justice and able to demonstrate your understanding of equal opportunities in practice. All modules will call on your learning and life experiences

How will I be taught?
A combination of lectures, small group work, tutorials and self study

When will I attend?
1 day per week

How will I be assessed?
Assignments, essays, presentations, creation of resources and work based practice

What do I need?

  • Youth Work NVQ Level 3 or
  • Relevant Level 3 qualification
