Your Course
This workshop style course will provide practical activities, discussion, professional tips/and advice. Sessions run will support you to learn about and practise
· Story and character development - bringing stories and characters to life
· Story telling techniques - how to get your message across
· Storyboarding
· Gathering information, recording and developing ideas
To get the best from this course you should be prepared to carry out some work in your own time. For the first session, please bring pen and paper for writing.

Learning Outcomes
The course will give you the opportunity to gain an introduction to :
· Some of the ways to utilise and develop your ideas
· A variety of approaches and techniques in writing for children
· Effective story-telling through words

Your Tutor
Jennie O'Brien's interest in creative writing began when she attended a local evening class. She went on to gain an MA in Writing for Children at King Alfred's College in Winchester.

Day and time: Thursday 7.00-9.00pm

Start date: 24 September

Number of sessions: 5

Tuition fees: £45

Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
