Course content:
The second or A2 year consists of two core pure mathematics modules, (C3 and C4) and a choice of either Mechanics (M1) or Statistics (S1). This choice is typically guided by the other chosen â€-A†levels and eventual degree or employment route.

Course structure:
The course is designed to enable students to acquire knowledge and skills with confidence, satisfaction and enjoyment.
Students will gain experience of mathematical activity and develop problem solving skills.
As well as providing a basis for further study of mathematics, the course should enable students to apply mathematics and recognise its significance to other disciplines.
Assessment procedure:
Each module is assessed by a 1½ hour examination. There is no coursework.

GCE A2 Level Mathematics, awarded by Edexcel
Progression opportunities:
Advanced level Mathematics is highly regarded by both universities and employers alike. Whilst it can be an essential pre-requisite for some degree courses it remains a highly acceptable entry qualification for the majority.
Practical applications of Mathematics combined with sound techniques make the study of this subject applicable to a wide range of eventual career choices.
