18th Edition IEE Regulations

The course is delivered by a qualified lecturer registered with the NICEIC. Refreshments will be served throughout the day.

It covers all 7 Parts and 17 Appendices of BS7671 A in detail using many worked examples. Delivery is by Lecture covering:

Day 1

(a) Introduction and explanation on the changes.

(b) Part 1 - Scope - What are included in the Regulations, What are excluded from the regulations including preferred frequencies and any supplementary documentation within the scope.

Object - What is the objective of the regulations and what are they attempting to achieve.

Fundamental Principles - The basis of the standards which are expanded in Parts 3 - 7

(c) Part 2 - Definitions - Contains over 230 definitions. The most important definitions will be highlighted. A good grasp of these will greatly assist in understanding the concept of the regulations.

(d) Part 3 - Assessment of General Characteristics. The designers' checklist. Two new chapters have been introduced including a significant change to Chapter 32 (External Influences). An understanding of Chapter 32 at this stage will again pay dividends.

(e) Part 4 - Protection for Safety. The remainder of Day 1 will place emphasis on Chapter 41. Protection against Electric Shock.

Close of Day 1- A sample paper of 60 multiple choice questions will be issued. Answers given at start of Day 2.

Day 2

(a) Part 4 - Protection for Safety. The remainder of the morning of Day 2 allows completion of Part 4.

(b) Part 5 - Selection and Erection. The afternoon session introduces the candidate to Part 5 of BS7671.

Close of Day 2 A sample paper of 60 multiple choice questions will be issued. Answers given at start of Day 3.

Day 3

(a) Part 5 - Selection and Erection. The morning of Day 3 allows completion of Part 5.

(b) Part 6 - Inspection and Testing. The afternoon session provides insight into the requirements of BS7671 on Inspection & Testing and necessary documentation.

(c) Part 7 - Special Installations and Locations. The requirements of Part 7 modify or supplement the main requirements listed in Parts 3 - 6. These will be summarised in the afternoon session.

(d) Appendices - The appendices will be used throughout the course for other Parts of the regulations and will be summarised in the afternoon session of Day 3.

Close of Day 3

Upon completion of the examination, the candidate will be issued their results.The course will cover the seven parts and 17 appendices which make up the requirements of the 18th Edition Regulations. These are the
