2 Day Rendering

The students are taken to a location where the work has been contracted to the academy

Health and Safety discussion

Students are shown how to prepare the work using polythene, duct tape and making tape

Students are instructed into the various mixes for the render

They are all instructed into cutting and fixing wooden rules for all external reveals

Students are then instructed into mixing the render.

Working as a team they apply a scratch coat to all the areas and then keyed.

As an accelerator is used, a second 10mm coat is applied to a level finish and then keyed

The day concludes with a general clean down of all tools and work areas.

Day 2

Students are instructed into the right mix for the top coat

Students are instructed into making the render

Working as a team a 5mm top coat is applied to the areas.

Cross grained floats are used to fine down the surface and a dry sponge to finish off

All external revels are turned with the wooden rules ,feathered in and finished

The day concludes with a general clean of all tools and work areas

A discussion on the course, followed by a presentation of the trowel and final photographs
