ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

No specific prior qualifications, learning or experience are required. An initial assessment of each candidate will need to be made to ensure that the level of the scheme is appropriate. Successful completion of level 2 will lead to level 3.

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
The award has been designed for those who wish to develop the skills and knowledge to use draughting and design software packages. The course is useful regardless of the industry you are involved in as the skills learnt are transferable across all trades and industries.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
The course uses the latest version of AutoCAD 2006, widely recognised as an industry standard package. At level 2 you will learn the basic understanding and principles of the 2D drawing environment, in terms of hardware, software and physical surroundings. You will explore the typical composition of a Cad system and health and safety matters that are associated with safe working practice. At level 3 your skills will be enhanced to cover a wide range of 2D drawing and editing commands and routines to aid the application and modification of the CAD software. You will become more familiar with the necessary techniques required to produce and edit drawings of medium complexity and prepare drawings for output to hard copy. Your skills will be enhanced to add more detail and to produce industry standard drawings.

HOW WILL I LEARN?
The course is 100% practical and through tutor input, worksheets and practice you will learn and hone the techniques required. The course is set out in units and there will be assessments for each of these units. The course consists of 150 hours of study. 60 hours for level 2 and 90 hours for level 3. Attendance on two evenings will be required, these evening tba.

WHAT CAN THIS COURSE LEAD TO?
The course is a nationally recognised City & Guilds qualification. Successful completion will lead to City & Guilds 4353-01 Level 2 Certificate in 2D CAD, City & Guilds 4353-02 Level 3 Certificate in 2D CAD. Following the course is 3D Design which is a natural progression.
