This new extended 15-week modelmaking course will provide you with valuable and specialist insight into the world of professional modelmaking. You will discover the processes, materials and techniques used to create amazing models, landscapes and sculptures.

The course encourages complete beginners or those with some previous experience to develop a broad-based set of essential skills, giving you the opportunity to develop a number of personal projects supported by a team of dedicated, knowledgeable and friendly industry professionals.

Taught by specialist tutors, Takara Dancy and David Speare, students will explore the world of professional modelmaking starting from basic architecture models, sculpting, moulding and casting, dioramas, etc. During the course students will have the time and opportunity to create a different model each week or continue with larger, more ambitious projects, using newfound essential and key industry skills.

You will have the chance to experiment and work with a variety of standard and specialist materials used in the construction of models and be encouraged to use resins, silicones, plastics and polymer clays. The Course tutors will guide you through set exercises each week, alongside demonstrations and presentations of prepared examples from sculpting, sets, architectural models, moulding figures to miniature landscapes. You will be challenged to produce professional models working in a rewarding, fun and vibrant environment.

This course is ideal for those who are considering working within the specialist field of modelmaking as a career choice and for those looking to study this subject, who may choose to apply to AUB’s BA (Hons) Modelmaking course.
