A flexible course to train you to become a Site Carpenter

A Level 2 qualification in Site Carpentry. You will also need Level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications. If you do not have these, we can assess your current level of literacy/numeracy. Consideration will be given to applicants with considerable relevant work experience.

Course programme

What you will Study A series of units covering the theory and practice of the following topics:

* Analysing technical information, quantities and communication with others
* Analysing the construction industry and built environment
* Carry out first fixing operations
* Carry out second fixing operations
* Erect complex structural carcassing components
* Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
* Install and maintain non-structural and structural components
* Set up and operate cutting and shaping machinery

How you will Learn Through practical tasks in the College workshops, working through associated study packages, attending lectures and tutorials and using the Learning Resource Centre.

How you will be Assessed Continuous assessment throughout the course of practical workshop tasks. Subject knowledge is assessed by means of online unit-end tests or a final single exam. Final assessment of the practical element of the course is by means of a series of Synoptic Practical Assignments.
