Why Insulate?
The most obvious reasons to insulate a building are seen as relating to heat retention and the reduction in the cost of utility bills however as well as keeping a building warmer in the winter, insulation also keeps a building cooler in the summer and also helps to prevent internal condensation. In addition, insulation reduces a buildings carbon footprint, improves a buildings energy efficiency rating which in turn increases the property value through an improved energy rating as well as reducing noise from outside.
The Green Deal will drive many properties towards implementing these changes which will benefit everyone in the long run.
The UK doesn’t currently have a sufficient workforce to undertake this kind of work which is why various qualifications are becoming available that are aimed at recruiting new entrants to this growing industry.
Green Deal
The introduction of the ‘Green Deal’ is intended to reduce carbon emissions cost effectively by reforming the energy efficiency of British properties. This will require various modifications to be made to homes and businesses which will be paid for via a ‘Green Deal’ financial system. This system will eliminate the need for anyone to pay in advance for energy efficient alterations and adjustments to the home and instead provides reassurances that the cost of the measures should be covered by savings on the electricity bill. The Green Deal will enable many households and businesses to improve the energy efficiency of their properties so less energy is consumed and less money is wasted. With such a drive on the UK meeting set targets to reduce carbon emissions, many things will have to change which means that new jobs will be created and qualified installers of the varying forms of insulation will be needed – this City & Guilds Insulation and Building Treatments qualification is the perfect opportunity for those of you not currently working within this industry to make that career change possible. You will need to have a recognised and accredited qualification in order to become a registered Green Deal Installer.
This is a hands-on, practical plastering course and you will be involved at every stage and will be participating throughout. It is therefore recommended you bring suitable clothing and for your own safety, steel capped footwear is essential.
