ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Assessor candidates wishing to undertake NVQ assessor training must be attached to, or accepted as an assessor candidate, by an organisation which is delivering NVQ qualifications in a relevant vocational area. This is essential as assessor candidates must have all their assessment decisions countersigned by a qualified assessor, and be able to attend NVQ course team and standardisation meetings. Assessor candidates will need to provide written evidence that they have been accepted by an organisation which is delivering NVQ qualifications as an assessor candidate before being enrolled on the A1 Assessor Award.
Assessor candidates must also have a vocational qualification and current vocational/professional experience, which is acceptable to NVQ awarding bodies, to enable successful A1 Assessor candidates to be registered as a NVQ assessor.
NVQ awarding bodies do vary in their assessor vocational experience and qualification requirements; however, generally NVQ awarding bodies require a relevant NVQ qualification at Level 3, and 3 to 5 years current vocational expertise. It is always wise to check with the NVQ awarding body for your area of vocational expertise to make sure your qualifications and experience make you an acceptable assessor candidate who can register as an assessor on the successful completion of your A1 Assessors Award.
WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?
The A1 Assessors Award allows individuals with relevant vocational qualifications and current vocational experience to train as NVQ assessors in their own area of vocational expertise and in this way become actively involved in the on-the-job training of new employees and existing employees.
WHAT WILL I LEARN?
With your college A1 assessor's and your organisational countersigning assessor's help and guidance, you will take responsibility for preparing a portfolio which will provide evidence that you are able to assess NVQ candidates in your area of vocational expertise using a range of methods, for example, holistic direct observation, oral and written questioning, peer reports, inspection of settings, and accreditation of prior experience or achievement. Your assessors are responsible for helping you identify opportunities to prove your competence and produce evidence that your work matches the appropriate NVQ standards. Your assessors, as qualified assessors, will also judge your performance and other evidence to check that it meets the national standards.
HOW WILL I LEARN?
Your college A1 assessor will meet you for tutorials to monitor and guide your portfolio of evidence building. It will also be necessary for your college and organisational assessors to carry out observations of you assessing and providing feedback to your allocated NVQ candidates.
Your organisational countersigning assessor will also ensure that
