Successful completion of AS level art and design is a prerequisite. To apply for this course starting in September 2010, complete a college application form and return it to the college. We will invite you to attend and interview plus a Maths and English Assessment from January 2010.

A2 Level Art And Design

Who is this course for?
This course if for those who wish to further develop their skills in the field of art and design. It will provide you with sound knowledge as a foundation for further study.

What will I learn?
The A2 course work consists of a personal investigation unit, this includes the requirement that you should link a practical project with written material of 1000 - 3000 words. In order that you make a success of this unit you need to pay sufficient attention to both aspects of your work.Successful practice requires time and commitment, but it can be highly rewarding, you will become more confident when making aesthetic judgements and develop an in-depth awareness of the different roles of artists and develop your own visual language and the capacity to make informed critical judgements. Furthermore, you should be able to develop the capacity to work independently.

Assessment

Assessment is through observation of practical work and witten assignments: a portfolio unit which consists of a personal investigation which is the course work component and an externally set assignment unit which is the exam - a supervised period of 15 hours.

Successful completion of A2 art and design can lead to a foundation course or higher education in the field of art and design.
