Course programme
A student who wishes to study full-time to progress to University courses having recently achieved a range of GCSE and AS qualifications.
What qualifications or experience do I need ?2 AS Levels at grades A-D including this subject. E grades will be considered on an individual basis. GCSE Physics grade B or above or B in Science (Double Award). GCSE Mathematics grade B or above. GCSE English grade C or above.
What will I study ?A2 Physics specification - 9PH01 Examining Board - Unit 4 - Physics on the move Unit 5 - Physics from creation to collapse Unit 6 - Experimental Physics * In addition, Tutorial will be added.
How will I be assessed ?Assessment will be through: * examination for units 4 & 5 * class based coursework examination for unit 6 according to the specification of the awarding Examining Board.
What qualifications could I achieve ?On successful completion of this subject, the candidate will gain an A Level certificate in Physics.
How do I join the course ?You must complete a Full-Time application form and make an appointment for an interview with a Tutor. References will be required from your previous educational establishment.
Will I need an interview ?Yes, before you can enrol.
Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?Yes, students are expected to equip themselves with the following texts: Edexcel A2 Physics by Miles Hudson, ISBN: 9781408206089 (Pearson Education) A good scientific calculator is also necessary for the course, a clear 30cm ruler, set square and pencil.
