Method of assessment
You will study three units each year, one of which will be a Controlled Assignment in Year 1 or Test in Year 2, which will be completed within a specific time period and in a supervised area. All work will be marked internally and externally moderated.

Why choose this course?
This is a broadly based course with opportunities for the open-minded student to engage with a wider range of Art practice and materials. The course combines practical and theoretical material enabling students to develop their power of observation, analysis and communication; and their making skills. The stress is on personal development and experimentation with ideas, techniques and media.

A wide range of careers are available for well trained and qualified artists as many employers highly value creative and flexible thinking.

What will I study?
You will develop a sound grounding in a number of areas while still exploring the subject in-depth. Areas covered on the Art course include painting, drawing, mixed media, installation, printmaking, 3D, fibre arts and contextual studies. On the Textiles course the areas studied will include drawing, surface pattern and decoration, plus printed, dyed and constructed textiles.

Huish Extra
You will have the opportunity to take part in regular study visits which include London and regionally based galleries plus a once yearly study visit to Europe. There are artist-led workshops as well as exhibitions by visiting artists held within the college and off campus. There are three annual exhibitions of students work.
