Method of Assessment
In your first year there will be two portfolio units, one on the performing arts business and one a skills development diary which you keep throughout the year. Both of these are internally assessed and externally moderated. Your third unit is a repertory performance; alongside this you also keep a diary detailing your progress and development of performance skills. This unit is externally assessed. In your second year there will be another two portfolio units, one on performing arts business and another detailing your skills development. Both of these are internally assessed and externally moderated. Your final unit in the second year is performance which is externally assessed.

If you are creative, enjoy movement and like to learn in a practical way, this is the course for you. The course will challenge your preconceived notions of dance and is designed for students who are interested in studying dance in-depth. You will develop skills of analysis, dance appreciation, anatomy understanding, choreography, performance and history of dance. Many of our students have gone on to courses in Dance or the Performing Arts in specialised dance schools and universities.

Huish Extra
Trips and workshops with visiting dance companies are an integral feature of the course. You will be encouraged to develop as a choreographer and performer by participating in many public performances.
