About this course
Most of our A Levels have special entry requirements. In general Oxford Open Learning will admit students for A Level who have a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade C and above. These would ideally include English and Maths.

The course is split into two major components - AS and A2.
The AS level is often taken at the end of the first year and the A2 at the end of the second year.Each lesson begins with a set of clear objectives and an explanation of its place in the overall programme of study.Effective learning is encouraged through frequent activities and self-assessment questions.
There are twelve tutor-marked assignments (known as TMAs).

The Syllabus
This course prepares candidates for the AQA English Language
AS level syllabus 5701, for examination in 2008 and later years. Most candidates will then study the A2 syllabus 6701. The full Advanced Level qualification comprises AS and A2.Assessment is by six written papers (three for AS and three for A2).CourseworkThere is no coursework.English A level RequirementsIt is assumed that prospective candidates for this course have obtained a pass mark of C or above in English GCSE or an equivalent qualification.
