    A Level

To gain an A level in Mathematics you must study six units, three of which are Pure Mathematics. These are called FP1, FP2 and FP3. The remaining modules are applied modules such as Mechanics or Statistics. You can find detailed information on the website www.mei.org.uk. In year one you will study Complex Numbers and Proof by Induction which are both examples of Pure Mathematics. In addition, if you are studying Statistics, you would also look at topics such as Hypothesis Testing. In year two you will study Polar Coordinates and Further Complex Numbers. In addition, if you are studying Mechanics, you would also look at topics such as Circular Motion and Frameworks.
