Course Summary:
The History course will give you a wealth of skills which are valued by employers and higher education institutions alike. History is a very well respected subject and discipline. It will leave you questioning and analysing the world around you, as well as allowing you to come to substantiated judgments which are evidence based, yet unique in their own right.
Entry requirements
A minimum of a five GCSEs at grades A*-C is required to study History at A-level. A GCSE grade B in English Language is required due to the nature of the subject. If you have already studied History at GCSE we would expect to see a strong grade profile. However, it is not essential to have studied History previously to access this course.

Course programme

Course Content: The new History syllabus is broken down into three components. These will run in parallel over your two-year period of study. The components are: Component 1: Breadth Study – Germany 1871-1991 (40%) Component 2: Depth Study – Britain 1951-2007 (40%) Component 3: Historical Investigation - Personal Study (20%) How will I be assessed? There will be two examinations based upon each component - Breadth and Depth Study - and one coursework unit relating to a historical theme.
