What will I do on this course?
The AS Music Technology will help you to gain knowledge and understanding of the key elements of modern music making. The course allows you to progress to higher level courses such as the A2 in Music Technology.

The course includes:

· Making music using computers (sequencing)

· Recording (working in the recording studio)

· Listening /analysing

· Composing.

How will I be assessed?
Through a combination of coursework and examination. The coursework elements are related to sequencing and sound recording. You will develop a variety of music and music technology skills in order to complete the portfolio of work you need. MIDI sequencing and multi-track recording as well as arranging skills are all key components assessed through the practical work carried out. The exam is in listening and analysing. You will have the opportunity to study the styles most common in popular music. You will then have to demonstrate this knowledge using aural discrimination skills. At least 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C or equivalent in relevant subjects, including either Mathematics and English Language. In addition it is recommended that you have some ability to read music and also have basic music keyboard skills.
