About this course
You will preferably need a grade C or above in GCSE Science to cope with the demands of the course. You will need to be able to perform to a good standard in two sports and you will have to participate in the sport enrichment programme in at least one sport.

Method of assessment
At AS, 60% of the marks will come from a written exam, 40% from two practical activities and an oral assessment in one of these activities. At A2, 70% of the marks will come from a written exam, 30% from one practical activity with an oral assessment.

What will I study?

In your first year you will study how a performer moves in terms of their Anatomy and Physiology, how a performer develops their sporting skills and how society influences a performer from foundation level to international competitor in the Olympics. In your second year you learn how to train for performance improvement, how the psychology of the mind affects this performance and how the traditions and ethos of a country have an impact on this performance.
