About this course
Minimum 5 GCSE at A* -C including a grade B in Additional Science (or Physics) and a grade B in Mathematics. A grade C in GCSE English is also desirable.

Unit 1 and Unit2 are each assessed through a single 1 hour 20 minute unit test. The tests are composed of short answer questions.
Unit 3 (coursework) is an assessment of an experimental report based on an industrial visit.
Unit 4 and Unit 5 are each assessed through a single 1 hour 35 minute unit test. The tests are composed of multiple choice, short answer and longer answer questions
Unit 6 (coursework) is an assessment of a plan for a two hour experiment and a report analysing the results of that experiment.
What can I do after completing this course?
An A-level in Physics will lead directly into degree courses in physics, engineering, astronomy, radiography, ophthalmy /optics and electronics. It is highly recommended as a qualifying subject for medicine, architecture, chemistry, mathematics and physiotherapy. It also very acceptable for subjects such as law, accountancy, psychology and geography and many other areas as it is highly valued as a numerate discipline. Indirectly the subject is a route into careers such as aviation, forensic science, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, telecommunications and computing.
