Course programme
In your first year you will study topics such as research methods, social psychology, individual differences and cognitive psychology. This will form a sound basis for the second year, in which you will study topics such as biopsychology, addiction, schizophrenia and many more. Classes are lively with much focus on debate, analysis, contemporary examples, scientific data analysis and gives you an opportunity to participate in super-curriculum enrichment with external bodies such as the University of Oxford Experimental Psychology department. Psychology is an academic discipline and a social science which seeks to understand individuals and groups by establishing general principles and researching specific cases. The course incorporates both the scientific study of human behaviour and its biological, cognitive, and social bases, and the systematic application of this knowledge to applied problems.
