A 'religion' is an organised collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence. It can be provocative and because of this is Religion is a challenging and stimulating course to study.
Religion plays an important role in our society and can influence what people think, feel, and believe. Through studying Religious Studies, students get a broad look at how religion and spirituality form the basis of our culture.
The Religious Studies Course aims to develop your knowledge and understanding of religion and how it relates to the world. Through studying this course, you will reflect on and develop your own values, opinions and attitudes, engage with a variety of topical questions around belief, values, meanings, purpose and truth. This course will develop your interest in, and enthusiasm for, a rigorous study of Religion and its relation to the wider world. You could then go on to higher education to study a wide range of courses including Religious Studies, Theology, Philosophy, Law, Sociology and the Social Sciences.

About this course
On this course you will:
Develop knowledge, understanding and skills appropriate to a specialist study of religion.
Study relationships between religion and culture.
Develop interest in and enthusiasm for religion, and an understanding of how it relates to the wider world.
Develop the ability to make responsible judgements on significant moral teaching and issues.
Taking A-level Religious Studies will allow you the time to think, in an academic context, about religion – regardless of your personal religious inclinations. It will do this by developing both your knowledge and understanding of religion(s) and, especially, how religion interacts with our modern world. A-level Religious Studies will also help you to develop your skills in critically analysing and reflecting on both personal and world values and opinions.
This A-level builds on the course content of GCSE, although it is not necessary to have this qualification before undertaking this A-level.
Upon successful completion of this home learning course you will receive an A-Level qualification.

- Unit 1 – RSS06: Exam 1 hour 15 minutes
- Unit 2 – RSS07: Exam 1 hour 15 minutes
- Unit 3 – RST3E: Exam 1 hour 30 minutes
- Unit 4 – RST4C: Exam 1 hour 30 minutes
Study Method
The course is specially designed for study by distance learning. Throughout the course there will be self-assessment questions, and tutor marked assignments (TMAs), to enable you to monitor your progress.
