Aims are to provide an understanding of the mandatory schedule of training, the ability to set abrasive wheels safely, an understanding of the hazards arising from use of abrasive wheels, knowledge of the role of personal protective equipment, how to adjust guards and attach wheels and balance wheels correctly, how to inspect wheels for damage, and the importance of identifying hazards. Suitable for: All staff who are required to mount abrasive wheels or who require familiarisation with the regulations.

This course helps employers meet their legal duties, as a schedule of training is a legal requirement for all those who mount abrasive wheels.

In order to facilitate hands-on learning, RoSPA's Birmingham-based skills centre contains fixed pedestal grinders and hand-held grinders so that delegates learn how to mount abrasive wheels correctly in a realistic work environment. Practical demonstrations and exercises are at the core of this course.
