About this course

Entry to the course is by interview including a Maths and English Assessment. Learners should be employed as an apprentice Bricklayer and have succesful completion of ICA/NVQ Level 2, Employers Rights and Responsibilities, Abrasive Wheels Certificate and CSCS Health and Safety.

Who is this course for?
This is a 1 year course that if successfully completed continues on from the ICA (intermediate Construction Award) and NVQ Level 2 in brickwork, and provides the opportunity to deliver the organisational and management skills needed within the trade and wider construction industry.

What will I learn?
The Advanced Construction Award is part of the Modern Apprentice Framework (Technical Certificate). Throughout the course you will gain an understanding of skills that relate to establishing the operational area, contribute to the progress of operations, assist with the organisations of resources, co-ordinate self and others to erect complex masonry structures and co-ordinate self and others to carry out complex masonry details.You will also be required to complete Key Skills to level 2 in numeracy and communication and Health & Safety.

Assessment
Learners will complete a range of practical tasks, projects and written assignments. An external examination will be completed towards the end of the course.

On Completion Achievement / Progression
On successful completion you will gain an Advanced Craft Award and through your work on-site it can be converted into a NVQ Level 3. Once completed you can progress on to site supervisory programme such as a National Award in Construction or an HNC.
