Course Summary:
The Derby County Community Trust Education and Football programme gives aspiring young footballers the opportunity to develop their 11-a-side football skills while studying academic qualifications in Sport to enhance their career prospects.
The College’s partnership with the award-winning DCCT enables learners to benefit from the expertise of highly qualified and respected coaches, which enhances the football-focussed curriculum.
Training sessions and competitive fixtures are carried out alongside your main programme of study.
Entry requirements
Applications are welcomed from individuals who regularly participate in football and who show a desire and willingness to develop their sporting performance.
Entry to the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport requires candidates to have a minimum of five GCSEs at A*- C grades (including English and Maths).

Course Content: The Academy includes: A dedicated training calendar Opportunities to progress to elite level pathways Access to AoC Sport regional and national trials A comprehensive competitions programme Technical and tactical coaching Psychological, physiological and lifestyle management Strength and conditioning support How will I be assessed? Assessment on the study programme will be continuous over the year. Assessment methods will vary depending on the subjects delivered. See our Sports Coaching and Development pages for further details. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? You are expected to purchase a uniform to wear at College and for practical sessions. Kit costs will vary depending on the items purchased: the cost is non-refundable once the items are ordered. You are also asked to contribute towards the end-of-year celebration event and yearly gym membership. The Derby County Academy kit should also be purchased in agreement with DCCT. Learners are encouraged to secure their place on College courses before doing so.Total costs are approximately £160. There may be additional events during the year to which you are expected to contribute. Financial assistance is available depending on your individual circumstances. For applicants from outside the region or who travel over distance, the College has residential accommodation if required. What can I do after this course? On successful completion of the course, learners may wish to progress to the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching at Derby College or to seek employment within the sport and leisure sector.
