Course Summary:
The Derby Trailblazers Basketball Academy programme gives aspiring young basketballers the opportunity to develop their basketball skills while studying academic qualifications in Sport to enhance their career prospects.
The College’s partnership with the Derby Trailblazers and Noel Baker School enables learners to benefit from the expertise of highly qualified and respected coaches, which enhances the basketball-focussed curriculum.
Training will take place at Derby College's Johnson Building or Noel Baker School, with the curriculum elements being delivered at Broomfield Hall Campus.
Entry requirements
Applications are welcomed from individuals who regularly participate in basketball and who show a desire and willingness to develop their sporting performance.
Entry to the Level 3 Sport requires candidates to have a minimum of five GCSEs at A*- C grades...

Course Content: The Academy includes: A dedicated training calendar Opportunities to progress to elite level pathways Access to AoC Sport regional and national trials A comprehensive competitions programme Technical and tactical coaching Psychological, physiological and lifestyle management Strength and conditioning support For specific course content, please visit our Sports Coaching and Development or Skills for Sport pages. How will I be assessed? Assessments occur throughout the year depending on the subjects studied. See information on our Level 3 Sports Coaching and Development course or our Level 2 Skills for Sport course for more details. Are there any additional costs or specialist equipment required? Learners need to purchase a kit. The cost of this will be finalised at the start of the course but is expected to be in the region of £130 and will include yearly gym membership and the end-of-year celebration event. This money should be received before November. There may be additional costs incurred for selected trips or visits. For applicants from outside the region or who travel over distance, the College has residential accommodation if required. What can I do after this course? On successful completion of the course, learners may wish to progress to higher level studies or the Foundation Degree in Sports Coaching. Alternatively learners may seek employment within the sport and leisure sector.
